The American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) raises funds for research, education and patient services, sponsors programs for cancer patients and on tobacco and breast health, and provides rides to medical appointments for cancer patients. Volunteer opportunities: Fundraising, driving patients, office help.

The Center provides outpatient and residential treatment, day activity services, and drug and alcohol counseling for adolescents and adults.

The Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive, culturally competent and affordable primary health care services and selected specialties to families and individuals in the Allston/Brighton area and surrounding communities regardless of circumstance.

The VNA provides nurses and home health aides for home care and offers a variety of clinics on children, nutrition, blood pressure, diabetes, and flu shots. Physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists and a medical social worker are also available for home visits through the VNA.
